A Race Without Equal.
This is the Clipper 2019 – 20, the Round the World yachting challenge: a record-breaking eight legs 40 000 nautical mile race between eleven 70 foot ocean racing yachts. Each skippered by a highly experienced professional, the crews are made up of over 700 enthusiastic amateurs – the only requirements being a love of the ocean and an adventurous spirit.
The Clipper 2019-20 is in Cape Town in November, arriving after a 4200 nautical mile South Atlantic crossing from South America. They set sail again on the 17th November from the V&A Waterfront, heading for Western Australia, a challenging 5500 nautical miles distant.
Waterfront Charters will be there! Two of our boats, with a full complement of spectators, will be setting out from the V&A Waterfront at approximately 13h00 during the fleet’s Parade of Sail in Table Bay. We will wait for family and friends of crew members who are waving off crew members on the yachts; our spectator boats will leave as soon as we have all aboard. The yachts will initially be performing the Parade of Sail and Man Overboard drills in the Bay, so we are ensured of being in place to watch the yachts as they set off firstly for a short course race in Table Bay, then the departure to Fremantle.
For all those who have crew members aboard the vessels; for those who love sailing; for those who love the pageantry of the Clipper Races: Waterfront Charters two amazing yachts will cruise in Table Bay with guests aboard to give them the best possible experience of the start of the third leg of the race.
Esperance, our twin-masted schooner, looks like it could take part in the race itself; it offers two viewing decks and a bowsprit for ultimate excitement. Serenity One, our stable luxury catamaran will accompany her, and her expansive decks and for’ard trampoline are ideal for perfect relaxed viewing. She is also ideal for the younger members of the sailing set; being toddler and kid-friendly.
